The Fortress of Costesti, situated on `Cetatuia` hill (591 metres high) is an ancient Dacian fortress in the defense system of Sarmisegetuza ? the former capital of Dacia. It is surrounded by walls 3 metres thick and earth walls. Destroyed during the second war of conquest of Dacia by the Romans (between 105 and 106 AD), the fortress has never been rebuilt. | |
