| Medias - The Medieval Towers | | | | Just like any other town in Transylvania, the Fortress of Medias was surrounded by strong walls and defense towers. Due to the massive construction, these latter resisted until nowadays.
Out of these two were the most important in the past and they can still be admired.
The first, the Tower of the Stone Masons was administered by the stone masons` guild. It was built in 1507 and it was also an entrance gate to the town. It kept the same style after 5 centuries, although the town changed a lot.
The second defense tower is `Forkesch` Tower and it is a building in the shape of a rectangular prism with a pyramid-like roof. It is situated in the southern part of the town, being one of the entrance gates to the town. Along the centuries it was a museum as well. | |
