| Miercurea Sibiului ? The Fortified Church | |
| | Miercurea Sibiului is a village not far from the city of Sibiu and it is famous for its old age and the fortified church here.
The church is built in the Romanic style, it has a western oval-shaped town and it got its present aspect in the 18th century. The oldest building is the Roman basilica which was transformed in the baroque style in the 18th century (arches were added to the central nave, pilasters, church stalls, an organ and an altar). The church is surrounded by an oval-shaped building on whose inner sides there are guarding paths and a warehouse for cereals. The southern entrance was fortified as well. | | |
