Discover the northern regions of Romania. Bucovina – the land of painted monasteries. Most of the churches have frescoes covering their facades and their interior walls and some of them have been included in the UNESCO World Heritages List. and drinks. The most importants monasteries: Moldovita, Sucevita, Putna, Arbore, Voronet, Humor. And Maramures – famous for its wooden churches (the old and higher wooden buildings from Europe can be visited here), traditions and real village life. Also it is a opportunity to taste the local gatstronomy.

The tour will start in Bucharest but you also have the choice to started from Cluj-Napoca, the city in the heart of Transylvania. First part of the tour is dedicated to Bucovina - the land of outdoor painted monasteries. Bucovina is a historical region situated in the north-eastern side of Romania, a realm where the Romanian history and tradition are mostly expressed. The legend about its appearance is linked by the foundation of Moldavia, one of the three great historical provinces in Romania, within Wallachia and Transylvania. It is said that in the middle of the 14th century, Dragos, a minor leader belonging to the Romanian population in the northern side of the nowdays Romania, didn’t bear anymore the Hungarian aggressive neighbors and crossed the eastern side of the Carpathian Mountains, reaching the center of Bucovina of nowadays. Here he settled up several regions which would constitute the future Moldavian state.

The landmarks of Bucovina are the outdoor painted monateries, each one with it’s own history, legends and colors. Our tour will guide you to the most important ones: Voronet, Moldovita, Sucevita, Humor, each one having a unique background color. The blue from Voronet is the famoust because it can’t be reproduced. Beside these your tour will guide you to another three monasteries, each one with it’s unique characteristics – Agapia, Varatec and Putna. We are strongly advise you to try the local food and drinks which are a proud of Romanian cuisine.

Second part is dedicated to the other region from north Romania – Maramures - the land of famous wooden churches and maramuresean gates. The Maramures county, situated at the Northern border of Romania with Ukraine, consists in the old "lands" of Maramures, Chioarul, Lapus and Baia Mare Depressions. Thanks to its richness in gold, silver, lead, copper, salt, its large pastures and natural hay fields, forests and agricol fields, its fauna and flora, this county was inhabited many millenaries ago.

The tour will end back in Bucharest. In the way back will visit two of Transylvania’s jewels: Sighisoara – one of the very few medieval towns which are still enhabited and Brasov – a city with a history starting from XIII century and with it’s Old District which still preserves the medieval walls, towers, bastions and gates and very old buildings and squares too.
