Classic Transylvania tour - 5 days
The tour of the main transylvanian medieval fortresses and cities, which guide you back in the medieval ages with their beauty, traditions and legends. Come to see and find more about the history of Transylvania and it’s peoples. Visits at the medieval castles – Bran and Rasnov, travel and discover the fortified churches from Biertan and Prejmer, overnight and tours of medieval cities as Brasov and Sibiu, Sighisoara citadel – the birthplace of Vlad Dracula, Peles Castle – the former royal residence are the highlights of this tour. We’ll start from Bucharest – the capital of Romania. After a panoramic tour of Bucharest will start our way to Transylvania, maybe the famoust province of Romania. It is an ancient land ones the nucleus of the powerful Kindom of Dacia. During the medieval ages it was the land of castles, fortresses and knights. Most of the medieval cities, castles and citadels can be visited here. Also it’s the land of legends, the legend of Count Dracula being one of them. The local cuisine it’s a mix between the Romanian,Hungarian and german gastronomy and we advise you to don’t miss it.
We invite you to discover the landmarks of medieval Transylvania with us. First we’ll stop at Sibiu, a medieval town built by germans in XII century. You’ll love the Old District and it’s very old buildings and squares. Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture in 2007. From Sibiu we’ll go to Sighisoara through a route with powerful german influence. You’ll see the german marks and the old way of living and constructions in all the villages that we pass.
Next stop will be at Sighisoara – the Pearl of Transylvania, one of the very few medieval citadels still enhabited and it’s included in UNESCO World Heritages. Sighisoara it’s also the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, also called Vlad Dracula after the legend. Spend the night in a hotel in the heart of citadel.
At the end of the tour will visit the area of Brasov, one of the most important cities of Transylvania and Romania and maybe the biggest tourism center of Romania. It’s history starts in XIII century and the walls, towers and a lot of buildings from the medieval times are still preserved. In the surroundings of Brasov we’ll find the famous Bran Castle – also known as Dracula’s Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Peles Castle – the former royal residence.
Spend last night in Brasov and than end our tour in Bucharest. |
