Bucovina Excursion
Discover Bucovina the amazing land of UNESCO painted monasteries, beautiful mountain sceneries, lakes and rivers and breath-taking gorges. Discover the local customs, traditions and beliefs and taste the local food which is part of the experience. This tour is organized as a post trip package for the members of P3A Walking Group Tour. It is a private guided tour for a small group of people and therefore there is a lot of flexibility to stop for services, coffee, photo sessions or short walks in order to make the driving period more comfortable. The tour runs for minimum 5 people

Day 1. Oct 10th. Brasov – Red Lake – Bicaz Gorges – Bicaz Dam – Bicaz lake

This day corresponds with the day 8th of the Explore Romania Hiking Trip.
9.00 AM departure from Viscri.. On the route to Bucovina we’ll cross the Eastern Carpathians mountains on a very scenic road. First we’ll see and stop at Red Lake and you’ll find the story and legend related to it.
Next we’ll pass through the magnificent Bicaz Gorges, one of the most spectacular mountain roads from Romania. It is possible to stop and to have a 30-45 min walk along the gorges.
Along our route we’ll meet the Bicaz Dam and Bicaz lake. We’ll stay overnight on the shore of the lake with a great view over Ceahlau mountains. Spend the afternoon there. Optional: short cooking class lesson.
Traditional dinner in the local Moldavian style will be served with local spirits, beer / wine included.
Overnight in a small hotel (pension), 3 star.
Distance: 200 km. Total driving time: approx. 4 hrs.



Day 2. Oct 11th. Bicaz lake – Targu Neamt – Sucevita – Moldovita – Gura Humorului.


Breakfast. We’ll continue to Targu Neamt where we’ll visit the Neamt Citadel, built in 15th century.
A 30 min walk uphill is needed for the visit.
Then we’ll arrive in Bucovina – the land of the famous painted monasteries but also of scenic landscapes, traditions and excellent food. First stop in this region will be at Marginea Black pottery center. Find more about this old craft and the secret technology.
Next we’ll visit Sucevita Monastery (UNESCO), the most magnificent monastic achievement among the painted monasteries in Bucovina , which looks like a real fortress, with towers, buttresses and watch roads.
Another stop will be at Moldovita monastery (UNESCO): dates back from 1532 and is due to the ruling prince Petru Rares. It has the aspect of a fortress, with imposing towers and high, thick walls.
To complete the day program we’ll visit the Painted Eggs Museum which is a very old and popular tradition in Romania.
Overnight in a 4 star hotel.

Day 3. Oct 12th. Bucovina – Transylvania - Tusnad

Breakfast. In the morning we’ll visit the most famous monastery – Voronet, founded in 1488 by Stephen the Great . It is famous for its original frescoes, the blue background colour and the best preserved and the most impressive representation of the Last Judgment.
Voronet monastery is included in the UNESCO World heritages list.
Then our route will continue back to Transylvania over the mountains. We can admire the beautiful autumn colours along the scenic drive. This time we’ll use the Borsec – Toplita.
Borsec is known for the quality mineral waters.
In Transylvania we’ll travel along Hargita county, an area with a lot of mountains and dense forest.
We’ll stay overnight in the mountain area at Tusnad. Time at your leisure to have a walk in Tusnad resort or to enjot the free access to the spa facilities at your hotel (indoor pool, jacuzzi, etc).
Accommodation in a 4 stars hotel with spa facilities.
Distance: 275 km. Total driving time: approx. 4 hrs.30 min

Day 4. Oct 13th. Tusnad – Bucharest
Breakfast. Late morning (11.00 am) departure from the hotel. Drive on the way to Bucharest passing Prahova Valley. Optional stop in Sinaia, for a short walk into this beautiful mountain town, to have lunch or to visit Peles castle.
Arrival in Bucharest in the afternoon.
Check-in the hotel. Accommodation in a 4 stars hotel, centrally located.
Rest of the day at your leisure.
Distance: 255 km. Total driving time: approx. 4 hrs.
Day 5. Oct 14th. Bucharest – departure
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your morning flight

CANCELLATION POLICY
Special conditions:
If an emergency situation occurs (pandemic, disasters, revolution, war, etc) and the Romanian authorities or the authorities from the traveler’s country impose restrictions to travel, to enter or leave the country, the cancellation can be made anytime without any penalty.
Standard conditions:
If none of the above mentioned situations occur the cancellation policy is:
No penalty apply if the cancellation is made with minimum 30 days prior the tour. Any deposit paid will be refunded in maximum 10 days.
20 % penalty fee apply if the cancellation is made with 5-30 days prior the our departure.
100% penalty fee apply if the cancellation is made with less than 5 days prior the tour start or in case of NO SHOW.
