Buzau county it is placed in the east of Romania, in the curve of the Carpathian Mountains. It is well known for the vineyards and the quality wine produced here, for the natural gas extracted and other things.

The Eagle’s Lake
The Eagle’s Lake it is on the east side of the slope Malaia at the altitude of 1420 meters in the Siriu Mountains exists, The Eagle’s lake or The Bottomless Lake. A lake, two names, two legends:
The Eagles’ Lake because here come eagles, in the time, to drink the water life, here they teach their babies how to fly.
The Bottomless lake because a shepherd let his flock stray, threw his stick in the lake and left. After one year he found his stick in the waters of the Danube and came back to his sheeps.
The route is medium in difficulty, it takes 3 hours in summer time and it starts on the Chalet 14 chairs to Siriu then continues to the village Gura Siriului, then Teharau Rock, Buzau River, The Black Valley chalet and to the Alpine Empty Winds Gate. From there it comes to The Eagle’s Lake.
The water of the lake on the southern side is warm but that is because the rest is cold as ice. From time to time the trout splash jumping after the flies. A slope from the neighbourhood is the only place in the Buzau Mountains where can be seen Black Goats.

The Mud Volcanoes
At 20 km from Buzau on the right side of the river with the same name, the road which crosses the mountains to Brasov it pass through the village called Berca. Here, the resources of the underground (ballast, clay, sand) were exploited intensely throughout history, but the real treasure are the mud volcanoes.
Frequent manifestations of the oil and gas deposits butied deep under the sediments appear along the Carpathians from the west to east.
A lunar landscape will be found by the traveller which crosses to the other side of river Buzau. Going 12 km to the north at the village Policiori will be discovered the Mud Volcanoes. They are so named because of the conical form and the constitution of the material which composes them.
Because of the strange noises caused by the gasses which emerge from the mud the locals named them kettles.
The craters are usually small but be more than 3 meters high.
These structures were made because of the mud was driven to the surface of the ground by the natural gas along some deep fault which cuts one of the most impressive structures made by oil and gas in this region, the anticlines Satuc - Berca -Arbanasi - Niculesti.

Natural Park „Living Fire“
The reservation is situated on a side of the Milcov River, close to the village Andreiasu de Jos, 37 km from Focsani.
The living fire is made by hydrocarbon deposits which erupt to the surface. Because shales do not exist here, we can’t have the Mud Volcanoes. The number of fires varies the flames having hights from 10-50 cm.
When it rains the flams dissappear.
