Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1. BUCHAREST – arrival
Meet your guide at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in a 4 stars hotel with central location.
Day 2. BUCHAREST - TULCEA
Meet in the morning with your guide at your hotel in Bucharest. Start your tour of Romania with a city tour of Bucharest. Highlights: Parliament Palace (optional inside visit), Royal Palace, Revolution Square, Atheneum, Victory Palace, Triumph Arch, Old District. Then we’ll go on the route to Tulcea a city on Danube River and the place where the Danube Delta starts. Accomodation at: Esplanada Hotel**** or similar, located on the shore of the river.
Day 3. EXPLORE DANUBE DELTA
After breakfast join a half day boat tour of Danube Delta (UNESCO natural reserve) – the last wild delta of Europe, the home of a fascinating mix of cultures and peoples—and a huge diversity of birds, presided over by the greatest of them all, the pelican. You will have the opportunity to see such birds as glossy ibis, spoonbills, pelicans, rollers, white tailed eagle and more. Enjoy a traditional lunch. Return in the afternoon to Tulcea and overnight in the same hotel.
Day 4. TULCEA – SINAIA
We’ll leave Tulcea in the morning heading to the Carpathians mountains and Transylvania Stop at Sinaia and visit the Peles Castle, former summer residence of the kings of Romania.
The little town of Sinaia is located in the mountains and it was highly influenced by the 19th century architecture, during Royal period. Overnight in a 4 stars hotel from Sinaia.
Day 5. SINAIA – BRAN - BRASOV
Continue your journey to Bran with it’s famous Bran castle. Also called Dracula`s Castle, it is situated not far from Brasov (25 kilometres) at the entrance in the Bran - Rucar passage. The castle got its fame from Dracula`s legend written in 1897 by Bram Stoker and later on made into a film by Francis Ford Coppola.. The first documents about the Bran Castle appeared in 1377.
In the afternoon walking tour of Brasov. The city of Brasov is one of the oldest in Europe, dating from 1235. During the Middle Ages, Brasov was known as a powerful fortress surrounded by high stone walls and defended by bulwarks, towers and other small fortresses. The buildings and the streets in the historical centre still preserve a medieval note. Concil Square, Black Church, White and Black Towers, Weaver’s Bastion and Ecaterina’s Gate are the tour highlights.
Overnight in Brasov at Bella Musica Hotel***or similar, located in the Old Town
DAY 6. BRASOV – PREJMER – BUCOVINA
In the morning we’ll visit the fortified church from Prejmer (UNESCO), dating since 13th century and having an unique defensive architecture.
Next we’ll cross the Carpathians mountains heading north-east to one of the most famous and popular region of Romania – Bucovina, the land of painted monasteries. It is a very scenic road which offer amazing landscapes. We’ll pass Red Lake and Bicaz Gorges on our way to Bucovina.
Next stop will be at Tarpesti village to visit an excellent museum of traditional crafts and customs.
In the evening arrive at Gura Humorului. Bucovina is also the land of very well preserved old tradition. Taste the delicious local cuisine. Accomodation in Gura Humrului at: Hildes Residence****or similar.
DAY 7. BUCOVINA REGION – PAINTED MONASTERIES
Start a tour to the painted monasteries from Bucovina.
- Voronet (UNESCO) : founded in 1488 by Stephen the Great . It is the most accomplished sample of artistic achievement in Moldavian architecture and painting . The doors of the porch have a Renaissance framing, whereas the stone carvings of the broken arches at the doors and windows belong to the Gothic style. Voronet Monastery had been dubbed the oriental Sistine Chapel , whereas Voronet Blue , a color obtained from lapis lazuli, entered in the lexicon of art alongside Titian red and Veronese green, and to this day has yet to be reproduced by natural means
- Moldovita (UNESCO): dates back from 1532 and is due to the ruling prince Petru Rares
It has the aspect of a fortress, with imposing towers and high, thick walls. The church has a three-cusped plan, as well as an open porch. It Is decorated with scenes from the 16th c Moldavian life. You can see here the best preserved frescoes, with fresh and vivid colors
- Sucevita the last and the most magnificent monastic achievement among the painted monasteries in Bucovina , looks as a real fortress, with towers, buttresses and watch roads. Built in 1581, by one bishop, it was dedicated to the Assumption in 1584. Paintings of the Sucevita monastery were best preserved both on the outside and on the inside( Ladder of Virtue, the last Judgment, the tree of Jesse,)
Beside the old and beautiful monasteries we’ll also dedicate some time to visit local craftsmens as: a painted eggs museum and workshop, Marginea pottery center, aso.
Return to Gura Humorului and overnight in the same hotel. Accomodation at: Hildes Residence****or similar.
DAY 8 GURA HUMORULUI – MARAMURES
After breakfast we’ll continue our tour of Romania with a new region. We’ll leave on the way to Maramures, the northern region of Romania, the land of wooden churches and well preserved traditions. Tour of Maramures. Today we’ll visit the wooden church from Bogdan Voda (UNESCO). At Dragomiresti we’ll visit the Maramures Woman Museum, where you can learn about maramuresean traditions and way of live. According with the time we’ll go to explore a countryside area of old and isolated villages with low influence of modern times. Visit some local craftsmens as a traditional weaver, a wood carver, a water mill, traditional household, aso.
Day 9 MARAMURES
In the morning continue to explore Maramures visiting Barsana Monastery and also driving to an authentic countryside area with old villages and craftsmen. Visit an old worksop and a local household. Visit Budesti wooden church (UNESCO), built in 17th century. Visit a wood carver workshop and a weaver workshop. In the summer time we can visit a sheep farm and taste the local cheese. Optional we can visit Sapanta Merry Cemetery or enjoy more time walking through a village and find more about local traditions.

Day 10: MARAMURES – SIGHISOARA
Depart on the way to Sighisoara, located in the heart of Transylvania. Sighisoara (UNESCO) is a charming medieval town which preserve very well the old architecture and fortifications. The citadel built in 13th century by German (Saxon) settlers it was an important cultural and artist center in medieval period. The old town is considered one of the best preserved medieval towns from Europe. Taste the local drinks: In the evening we’ll have a plum/pear brandy and wine tasting in a small family cellar. Overnight in Sighisoara at Sighisora Hotel*** or similar, located in the Medieval Town.
DAY. 11 SIGHISOARA – BIERTAN - SIBIU
Depart from Sighisoara heading to Sibiu. The road cross beautiful hills offering lovely scenery of nature, rural life, old villages – typical for this area of Transylvania. Visit Biertan fortified church, (UNESCO), 15th century. Next we’ll stop in an old village from Sibiu area. You can enjoy a horse driven wagon tour in the old village. Learn more about the local traditions and way of living, visit an icon painting museum and a local household. Traditional lunch in a local house.
End the day in Sibiu. In the evening walking tour of the Sibiu’s Old District. Sibiu is one of the most important fortified towns in Transylvania.. The city is reminiscent of old European cities such as Nuremburg and it was founded in 1190 and grew to be the chief city of the Transylvanian Saxons. This amazing town, with the "Old Town" (The Big Square, the Small Square, The staircase Tower, the Tanners Tower, the Lier’s Bridge , the House of the Butcher’s Guild , aso.

Day. 12 SIBIU – ALBA IULIA – HUNEDOARA - SIBIU
Next stop will be at Alba Iulia. Having its origins back in 2nd century from Roman time, the city of Alba Iulia offers a journey through the history of Transylvania from ancient times to medieval and modern days. We’ll visit the ruins of the Roman town, the medieval fortifications, the modern fortifications made in Vauban style, the Cathoilc Cathedral – the oldest from Transylvania and the Reunion Cathedral which commemorates the Union of all Romanian provinces ina single country.
Next stop will be at Hunedoara to visit the famous Hunyad Castle, the residence of the brave Transylvanian Governor – John Hunyad (Iancu de Hunedoara). The castle built in XV century is the biggest medieval castle from Romania and it’s also considered one of the most haunted places from Europe. Return in the evening to Sibiu. Accomodation at Ramada Hotel****or similar, located in the heart of Sibiu.
Day 13. SIBIU – FAGARAS - BUCHAREST
Early breakfast and departure a from Sibiu on the way to Bucharest. On the way we’ll have couple interesting stops as:
The Lipizzan Horses farm from Sambata, one of the few horse farms where the stallions of the Lipizzan breed are raised. Next stop at Fagaras citadel, dating since 14th century, it is one of the biggest in the south of Transylvania. End your Romania tour at Bucharest.
