Day by Day Itinerary:
Day 1. BUCHAREST – SIBIU area
Meet our tour guide, in the morning at your hotel in Bucharest.
Start our journey with a panoramic tour of Bucharest. Highlights: Parliament Palace, Revolution Square, Athenaeum, Royal Palace, Triumph Arch, Victoriei Avenue, aso.
Continue on the way to the area of Sibiu, crossing the Carpathian mountains.
Walking tour of the Sibiu’s Old District. Sibiu is one of the most important fortified towns in Transylvania.. The city is reminiscent of old European cities such as Nuremburg and it was founded in 1190 and grew to be the chief city of the Transylvanian Saxons. This amazing town, with the "Old Town" (The Big Square, the Small Square, The staircase Tower, the Tanners Tower, the Liar’s Bridge , the House of the Butcher’s Guild , aso.
Next we’ll stop in an old village from Sibiu area. You can enjoy a horse driven wagon tour in the old village. Learn more about the local traditions and way of living, visit an icon painting museum and a local household. Traditional dinner in a local house.
Overnight in a local guest house.
DAY 2 SIBIU – HUNEDOARA - ALBA IULIA – SIGHISOARA
In the morning we’ll go to Hunedoara to visit the biggest medieval castle from Romania – Corvin’s (Hunyad) Castle, dating since 15th century.
We’ll continue to Alba Iulia, a city with long history dating since the ancient times. Visit the Orthodox Cathedral, Catholic Cathedral, the fortification system built in “Vauban” style.
End the day in Sighisoara. Taste the local drinks: In the evening we’ll have a plum/pear brandy tasting in a small family cellar.
Overnight in a 3 stars hotel, located in the Old Town – Hotel Sighisoara or similar.
Day 3 SIGHISOARA – SASCHIZ - PREJMER – BRASOV
We’ll start the day with a visit on the medieval town of Sighisoara (UNESCO), also called “The Pearl of Transylvania” a wonderful medieval city where you can stil enjoy the medieval atmosphere. The citadel built in 13th century by German (Saxon) settlers it was an important cultural and artist center in medieval period. The old town is considered one of the best preserved medieval towns from Europe and its included in the UNESCO heritages list.
Next we’ll drive through an area of old Transylvania villages which preserve their architecture and customs. Stop at Saschiz village, which it is famous for its natural home-made jams. Visit and jam tasting in a local producer shop.
Next we’ll visit the fortified church from Prejmer (UNESCO), dating since 13th century and having an unique defensive architecture.
End the day in Brasov. In the afternoon walking tour of the medieval center of Brasov. The city of Brasov is one of the oldest in Europe, dating from 1235. During the Middle Ages, Brasov was known as a powerful fortress surrounded by high stone walls and defended by bulwarks, towers and other small fortresses. The buildings and the streets in the historical centre still preserve a medieval note. Concil Square, Black Church, White and Black Towers, Weaver’s Bastion and Ecaterina’s Gate are the tour highlights.
Overnight in Brasov at Bella Musica Hotel***or similar, located in the Old Town
Day. 4 BRASOV –- BRAN – SINAIA - BUCHAREST
In the morning we’ll visit famous Bran castle. Also called Dracula`s Castle, it is situated not far from Brasov (25 kilometres) at the entrance in the Bran - Rucar passage. The castle got its fame from Dracula`s legend written in 1897 by Bram Stoker and later on made into a film by Francis Ford Coppola.. The first documents about the Bran Castle appeared in 1377.
Continue to Sinaia and visit the Peles Castle, former summer residence of the kings of Romania.
End our journey with a panoramic tour of Bucharest. Highlights: Parliament Palace, Revolution Square, Athenaeum, Royal Palace, Triumph Arch, Victoriei Avenue, aso.
Drop-off at the airport (aprox 5.30-6.00 PM) or to a hotel in Bucharest.
