It is a private guided tour for a small group of people and therefore there is a lot of flexibility to stop for services, coffee, photo sessions or short walks in order to make the driving period more comfortable. Day 1. Oct 10th. Viscri – Corund - Praid - Sighisoara




This day corresponds with the day 8th of the Explore Romania Hiking Trip.
9.00 AM departure from Viscri. First stop will be at Corund, a village known for the ceramic craftsmen. In the golden ages there were more than 100 traditional workshops producing decorative pottery. We can still see some of them and find more about this art and the characteristics of Corund ceramic.
Next we’ll go to Praid Salt mine, the biggest salt mine from Romania. The underground visiting place is on "Level 50” which is 120 m deep from the surface. The private transport of the people is with buses on a 1250 m long tunnel to the entrance gate of the visiting base.
We’ll end the day at Sighisoara, the best preserved medieval town of Romania.
We’ll have a walking tour to discover the city’s landmarks such as: Church on The Hill, Clock Tower, fortified walls and towers, the birthplace of the famous Vlad Dracula.
Overnight in a 3 star hotel, located in the historic town.

Day 2. Oct 11th. Sighisoara – Alba Iulia – Hunedoara - Petrosani




Breakfast. Check-out the hotel.First stop of the day will be at Alba Iulia, a town having its origins in the ancient time, founded by the Romans under the name Apulum. We’ll visit the ruins of the Roman castrum (2nd century), medieval fortifications (16th century) and the Vauban type fortifications (18th century). Alba iulia has a great place in Romanian history as here was proclaimed the Union of all the Romanian regions in a single country. We’ll visit the Union museum and Reunion Cathedral. Another highlight of the city is the Catholic Cathedral, one of the oldest religious buildings from Transylvania.
At 12.00 we’ll be the witnesses of the changing guards festivity, a nice local tradition.
Next we’ll leave on the way to Hunedoara to visit Corvin’s castle (Hunyad castle), the biggest medieval castle from Romania, dating since 15th century. The castle was built in the time of John the Huniade, a famous Transylvanian Governor and of his son – Matei Corvin, the king of Hungary.
We’ll end the day in a beautiful mountain resort, a hotel which is overlooking the Jiu River Valley and the Retezat Mountains (Southern Carpathians)

Day 3. Oct 12th. Petrosani – Transalpina Road - Horezu




Breakfast. We’ll cross the Southern Carpathians Mountains on the route to Wallachia – the southern region of Romania. First we’ll drive you through the Jiu River Valley and then we’ll join one of the most scenic mountain roads in Europe: Transalpina. The road goes as high as 2200 metres offering amazing sceneries over the mountains. We’ll have couple stops in the best places for photos and to stretch the legs.
On the other side of the mountains we’ll stop to visit Polovraci cave, one of the nicest visitable caves from Romania. It is a long cave, over 9 km (out of which 0,9 Km electrified), with the main gallery mostly horizontal and some sideways galleries.
Along the gallery there are three distinct sectors: the Pillar Gallery, and two little side galleries (the Suffocated Gallery, and the important one - Bats Gallery).
End the day in the Horezu area, which is famous for ceramic workshops.
In the afternoon we’ll have the chance to explore some of these workshops and to see the final products realized here.
Overnight in a 3 stars hotel/pension in the Horezu area.

Day 4. Oct 13th. Horezu – Maldaresti - Bucharest



Breakfast. In the morning we’ll visit a unique type of fortified house, typical for this part of Romania and unique in Europe. “Cula lui Greceanu” it was built in 16th century and it is a very interesting combo between a residential and a defensive structure.
Next we’ll visit Horezu monastery (UNESCO). Founded in 1690 by Prince Constantine Brancovan, the monastery of Horezu, in Walachia, is a masterpiece of the 'Brancovan' style. It is known for its architectural purity and balance, the richness of its sculptural detail, the treatment of its religious compositions, its votive portraits and its painted decorative works. The school of mural and icon painting established at the monastery in the 18th century was famous throughout the Balkan region.
End the day in Bucharest where we’ll arrive in early afternoon. We’ll do a panoramic tour of the city including: Parliament Palace, Triumph Arch, Royal Palace, Revolution Square, University Square, etc.
Overnight at Capitol Hotel, 4 stars, located in the central area.
Distance: 235km. Total driving time: approx. 3hrs30min.

Day 5. Oct 14th. Bucharest – departure
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your morning flight

CANCELLATION POLICY
Special conditions:
If an emergency situation occurs (pandemic, disasters, revolution, war, etc) and the Romanian authorities or the authorities from the traveler’s country impose restrictions to travel, to enter or leave the country, the cancellation can be made anytime without any penalty.
Standard conditions:
If none of the above mentioned situations occur the cancellation policy is:
No penalty apply if the cancellation is made with minimum 30 days prior the tour. Any deposit paid will be refunded in maximum 10 days.
20 % penalty fee apply if the cancellation is made with 5-30 days prior the our departure.
100% penalty fee apply if the cancellation is made with less than 5 days prior the tour start or in case of NO SHOW.
