One of the oldest towns from Transylvania, Sighisoara was first mentioned in 13th century. It is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe and it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
We’ll visit the most important sights and our tour guide will tell you the history and legends behind this magnificent place.
Also called the Gate Tower, the Clock Tower was built in the 14th century and it is about 60 metres high. In 1604 the tower got a horologe whose mechanism was made up of wood and it later on had wooden statuettes which worked mechanically. Nowadays the History Museum is situated inside this Tower.
Church on the Hill. This church from the 14th and 15th centuries was built in late Gothic style and it was made of pit stone. It is one of the oldest churches  in Romania. One can admire the beautiful decorative Gothic stone sculptures and mural paintings from the 15th century. The way to the church is in fact a wooden stair covered by a wooden gallery built in 1654. A 1200 Romanesque chapel is supposed to have been the basis of this building.
The Church of the Monastery built in the 13th century was situated opposite the hill and it was an integral part of a Dominican church which no longer exists. One can see an altar built in the Baroque style, a 1680 organ, a 1440 bronze font and several Oriental carpets from the 17th century.
In Sighisoara can be seen the house where Vlad the Impaler was born, which now is a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal in the Dracula’s theme.
Big parts of the town’s fortified wall is still preserved together with nine defensive towers.
